Barcelona city council has allocated €4.1 million to promote emergency employment and social services in the city. This is double the 2011 emergency budget.
Another €1 million is being allocated for the improvement of the city’s cultural theatres and auditoriums in order to pormote local employment.
The Emergency and Social Centre (CUESB), which is open 24 hours a day throughout the year will move to a better location in Carrer de la Llacuna where it will also be able to provide emergency short-term accommodation. However the new promises will not be ready until 2013. The centre, now at Carrer del Comerç de Barcelona helped over 12,000 people in 2011.
